Yellowstone.ai Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 8/4/2026

Yellowstone.ai LLC ("Yellowstone.ai," "we," "us," or "our") is a family-owned company based in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. We make cellular trail cameras and the services that power them. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

This Policy applies to everything we operate: our website and online store, your Yellowstone.ai account and camera management portal, our mobile apps, our cellular data plan services, and our email and text message programs (together, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here.

If you purchased a Yellowstone.ai camera through a third-party marketplace such as Amazon or through one of our dealers, that seller's privacy policy governs the information you provided to them. This Policy applies once you activate your camera and create an account with us.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us directly:

  • Account information. Name, email address, phone number, shipping and billing address, and password when you create an account or place an order.

  • Payment information. Payments are processed by our payment processors (such as Stripe and Shopify Payments). Card numbers are tokenized and processed by these providers; we do not store full card numbers on our systems. If you place an order by phone, our team enters your payment details directly into our payment processor and does not retain your card number afterward.

  • Communications. When you contact our support team by email, chat, or phone, we keep a record of the communication.

  • Referral information. If you participate in our refer-a-friend program, we collect the name and contact information of the person you refer so we can deliver the referral offer, and — if they make a purchase — issue your reward credit. If someone referred you, we received your contact information from them for this purpose.

Information collected by your camera and our Services:

  • Photos and videos. Images and video captured by your camera and transmitted to your account.

  • Camera and device data. Camera settings, battery level, signal strength, firmware version, device identifiers (such as serial number, IMEI, and SIM identifiers), and cellular network usage data.

  • Location data. GPS coordinates reported by your camera (where enabled) and location information you assign to cameras in your account. We treat camera location as sensitive information — see Section 3.

  • App and website data. Device type, operating system, IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and how you interact with the Services, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 5).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide the Services: transmit and store your photos, manage your cameras and data plans, and process orders and payments

  • Provide customer support and diagnose camera, connectivity, and account issues

  • Send service communications, such as order confirmations, billing notices, low-battery or camera-offline alerts, and changes to your plan

  • Send marketing communications, if you have not opted out (see Section 6)

  • Administer promotions and the refer-a-friend program

  • Improve our products and Services, including analyzing aggregate usage, connectivity, and performance data

  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues

  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Your Photos and Camera Locations

Your images and camera locations are the most sensitive information we handle, and we treat them accordingly:

  • Your photos are yours. We do not use your photos or videos in our marketing, on social media, or in any public materials without first asking you and getting your permission.

  • We don't browse your images. Our team does not view your photos except as needed for quality assurance and troubleshooting — for example, diagnosing image quality or transmission problems you've reported, or verifying that our systems are working correctly.

  • We don't share your camera locations. We do not sell, publish, or share the locations of your cameras, except as required by law (see Section 8) or with service providers who need it to operate the Services.

  • Improving detection features. We reserve the right to use images transmitted through the Services to develop and improve automated features such as species detection and image categorization. If we do this, images are used for model development purposes only — not for marketing, and not shared publicly.

  • No data goes to conservation partners. Our partnerships with conservation programs and agencies do not involve any transfer of customer data, images, or camera locations. If we ever offer a way to voluntarily contribute images to a research or conservation program, it will be strictly opt-in.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only in these circumstances:

  • Service providers. Companies that help us run the business, such as payment processors, cellular network carriers, cloud hosting providers, email and SMS platforms, customer support tools, shipping carriers, and analytics providers. They may use your information only to provide services to us.

  • Advertising and analytics partners. As described in Section 5, we use advertising and analytics tools that collect information through cookies and similar technologies. Under some state privacy laws, this is considered "sharing" or "targeted advertising," and you can opt out.

  • Affiliate partners. If you arrive at our store through an affiliate link, our affiliate network receives information about your visit and purchase (such as order value) so the referring partner can be credited. This does not include your photos or camera locations.

  • Business transfers. If Yellowstone.ai is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will require the successor to honor this Policy or notify you of changes.

  • Legal compliance and protection. As described in Section 8.

  • With your direction. When you ask us to share information, such as sharing camera access with another user on your account.

5. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising

We use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences, measure how the Services are used, and show ads for our products on other platforms. This includes analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) and advertising pixels (such as Meta and Google Ads), which may collect your IP address, device identifiers, and browsing activity on our site.

Your choices:

  • Opt out of targeted advertising. You can opt out of the sharing of your information for targeted advertising by emailing privacy@yellowstone.ai with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share."

  • Global Privacy Control. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out of sale/sharing where required by law.

  • Browser controls. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Some features of the Services may not work properly without cookies.

We do not knowingly share photos, videos, or camera location data with advertising partners.

6. Email and Text Communications

If you make a purchase or sign up for our emails, we may send you marketing emails. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email. If you opt in to text messages, message and data rates may apply, and you can opt out by replying STOP. Opting out of marketing does not stop service communications like billing notices, camera alerts, and order updates.

7. Data Retention

  • Photos and videos remain in your account until you delete them — even if your camera is inactive or your data plan has lapsed. However, we reserve the right to delete images and other content associated with accounts that have been inactive (no active data plan and no logins) for more than 12 months. If we adopt a routine deletion practice, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you at the email address on your account before deleting your content.

  • Account and order records are retained for as long as your account is active and afterward as needed for tax, accounting, warranty, and legal compliance purposes.

  • Support records are retained as long as reasonably necessary to provide support and improve our Services.

  • You can delete individual photos at any time from your account, and you can request deletion of your account and associated data as described in Section 9.

8. Legal Requests

We may disclose information — including account information, images, and camera location data — when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, such as in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or search warrant, or when necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Yellowstone.ai, our customers, or others, including in emergencies involving risk of serious harm. Where legally permitted and practical, we will notify you of a legal demand for your information before disclosing it.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Know / access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy of it in a portable format

  • Correct inaccurate personal information

  • Delete your personal information

  • Opt out of targeted advertising and of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information

  • Non-discrimination — we will not deny you services or charge different prices because you exercised your privacy rights

How to exercise your rights. Email us at privacy@yellowstone.ai from the email address associated with your account, and tell us what you'd like us to do. To protect your information, we will verify your identity before acting on a request — typically by confirming information associated with your account. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with proof of authorization.

We will respond within 45 days of receiving a verifiable request. If we need more time, we will let you know and may extend the deadline by an additional 45 days where permitted by law.

Appeals. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing privacy@yellowstone.ai with "Appeal" in the subject line. We will respond to your appeal within 60 days. If your appeal is unsuccessful, you may contact your state Attorney General.

Canadian customers. If you are in Canada, we handle your personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Your information is stored and processed in the United States. You may access and correct your information and withdraw consent as described above, and you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada with concerns.

10. Children's Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at privacy@yellowstone.ai and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit, access controls, and payment tokenization through our payment processors. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you as required by law.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice on the Services before the changes take effect. The "Effective Date" at the top shows when this Policy was last revised. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
