Our Promise
Yellowstone.ai LLC warrants your Y2 camera, solar panel, and included components against defects in materials and workmanship for life. Many companies limit their "lifetime" warranties to the expected life of the product. Not us. Our warranty lasts for the lifetime of you, the original customer — and we hope you live forever.
This is the industry's only true lifetime warranty, and it covers more than defects. Read on.
What's Covered — For Life
Camera and solar panel malfunction. If your camera or solar panel has a problem we can't resolve through troubleshooting, we will repair it or replace it with a new or refurbished unit at no cost. You pay only for shipping.
Animal and natural disaster damage. If your camera is destroyed or damaged by an animal or a natural disaster — a bear, cattle, a hurricane, a forest fire, a flood — it's covered, for life. You pay only for shipping. We know where these cameras live.
Replacement parts. Swappable components — the antenna, glass lens cover, PIR motion sensor lens, straps, SD card, SIM card, and the battery pack housing — are covered for life. We can ship you the replacement part to install yourself, or you can send us the camera and we'll replace the component for free. Either way, you pay only for shipping.
Network obsolescence. Mobile carriers will likely decommission today's 4G networks someday. When that happens, we will provide you a replacement camera compatible with then-available networks at no cost. You pay only for shipping.
The One Exception: Lithium-Ion Battery Cells
Lithium batteries naturally age and degrade with use — that's chemistry, not a defect. The extreme-weather, commercially available 18650 lithium-ion battery cells that power your camera carry a two-year warranty from your purchase date. After two years, if your batteries have degraded, you can purchase compatible replacement 18650 cells from us or from any other supplier — using batteries purchased elsewhere does not void this warranty, provided they meet the camera's operating specifications.
What We Ask of You
Keep your camera connected at least 60 days per year. Our cameras include advanced remote monitoring capabilities — it's one of the reasons we can offer this warranty at all. To allow us to monitor and update your camera's health and systems, your camera must maintain an active data plan and connection for at least 60 days per calendar year. Cameras purchased within the preceding 12 months are covered regardless of plan history.
Take reasonable care of your camera. Damage caused by the following is not covered: (a) improper use or abuse of the camera; (b) use in an environment outside the product's operating specifications; (c) use of or connection to incompatible batteries, power supplies, SIM cards, or SD cards; or (d) repair or service attempts by anyone other than Yellowstone.ai, unless we directed you to do so. (To be clear: animal and natural disaster damage is covered, as stated above — these exclusions are about how the camera is used and cared for, not what the wilderness does to it.)
How to Make a Claim
- Email support@yellowstone.ai. Tell us what's going on.
- Work with us on troubleshooting. To determine the right fix, we may ask you to perform remote troubleshooting steps first, which can involve multiple conversations and visits to your camera. We may also ask for proof of purchase.
- Get your RMA. If a repair or replacement is needed, we'll issue a return merchandise authorization before you ship anything to us.
- Pay shipping only. We may charge between $10 and $30 to cover round-trip shipping and handling per claim within the United States, and actual shipping costs for customers outside the United States. That is the only cost to you for warranty service.
For warranty purposes, "refurbished" means a product or part substantially restored to its original specifications, which may show cosmetic wear. In some cases, a replacement may be a newer camera model.
Older Camera Models
Camera models sold before the Y2 carry a one-year warranty from the date of purchase — unless the camera has been on an active Outfitter plan for the 90 days preceding the claim, in which case the full lifetime warranty above applies.
The Legal Details
This warranty is provided by Yellowstone.ai LLC, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, to the original end customer and is not transferable. Repair or replacement as described above is your exclusive remedy for a covered claim.
This warranty does not cover wireless data charges incurred while warranty service is being performed; management of your data plan during service remains your responsibility. Yellowstone.ai is not responsible for third-party hardware, software other than software we provide, or internet access and availability issues.
TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED TO THE DURATION OF THIS WRITTEN WARRANTY, AND YELLOWSTONE.AI LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, ARISING OUT OF THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE PRODUCTS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts or the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
